Tailored Relationships

What is a Tailored Relationship and why would we want to consider one?

With the Tailored Relationship approach to Connected Church, we work closely with you to design a bespoke overseas link and relationship. A significant investment from you means we can invest in helping you form a new connection.

We’re privileged to be partnering with churches, communities and dioceses across the UK and we'd love to explore a partnership with you.

To give you an idea of what a partnership can look like, here is one of their stories...

Meaningful Relationships

Our aim is to help you build meaningful relationships with people overseas that deeply impact your community.

Supported by Tearfund through personalised updates, prayer points and facilitated visits in both directions, you will get to know the people you are supporting personally and discover how they can also support and enrich your calling and mission here in the UK.

Where can we connect?

We’d love you to build a Tailored Relationship with one of our featured partners and highly recommend them to you as people of integrity who are ready and able to form a personal connection with you.

Our work as Tearfund of course extends further than our featured Connected Church partners and because of the significant investment you’re making we can also consider creating a connection in one of the other countries where we work.

So if you have a heart for a country or issue that you can’t see on the Connected Church partner list, please get in touch as we may have one that fits you perfectly. You can see a full list of the countries we work with on the main Tearfund website.

Quite simply, a Tailored Relationship is a Connected Church link, designed just for you.

What does it cost?

We believe that there is something that causes us to really engage with the projects that we are supporting when we stretch ourselves financially in pursuit of them, so it feels significant that you're looking at doing this.

To ensure that the programmes Tearfund oversees are cost effective and significant, we look for partners and projects that follow sustainable development practices at a scale of work that most often sees 3 year programmes running at annual budgets of at least £25,000.

This means that working on a project together becomes viable when you are supporting a significant portion of a project, raising around £10,000 or more per year for 3 years.

Whilst £10,000 per year for 3 years might seem a large amount, it's really achievable when we commit together and often churches have raised far more than they at first expected; we've even worked on projects funding in excess of £600,000 with churches.

It's been an amazing venture for some churches that have chosen to give from their Mission budget, have asked individuals to give regularly and have fund-raised - all coming together to make an overall target. The energy spent to get to their target has deeply engaged them with their partner.

The more you invest, the more you fund-raise, the more people we'll be able to see lifted out of material and spiritual poverty through the help of your chosen partner.

By the way, if you want to know more about how and why we work the way we do, you can read much more about how we work and our quality standards on the main Tearfund website.
