I am back after a long break travelling India over Christmas and more excited than ever about what we have planned this year.
We are currently working on developing a resource for churches interested in doing Umoja in their local community. In a nutshell Umoja is Tearfund’s way of doing development overseas: working through the local church to come alongside communities and empower people to lift themselves out of poverty. We see such beautiful stories of restoration time and time again with this approach, and so are working with UK development experts to take all of the things we have learnt in our work overseas and apply them here in the UK.
It will look very different - our context here in the UK differs so radically from all the other places we work - but it will be the same Kingdom values guiding our work amongst the poor and vulnerable of our world.
We are still in the first stages of creating this exciting resource, but if you are particularly interested in doing local mission the Umoja way, then do get in touch with me at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be asking for input and feedback from churches along the way.
I look forward to going on this journey with you!
